Heirloom strains like this Thai are exquisite! Fruity, floral, euphoric!
These days it seems like there is a rush to the top in terms of churning out more and more hybrid cannabis strains many of which are very nice and quite powerful in terms of cannabinoid content, especially THC.
But there is something to be said about heirloom or landrace strains – strains that are found in the wild or traditional native strains that are cultivated in some areas. These strains express the beauty, fragrance and a blend of cannabinoids that have evolved naturally through environmental influences. Come to think of it, it’s a lot like tomatoes: What is tastier – the mass produced cold-tolerant tomato or the colorful, juicy and flavorful heirloom tomato that is closest to its wild origins? And this is true for many vegetables, fruits and herbs, including cannabis.
Heirloom and landrace strains may not be powerhouses of THC the way that hybrids often are – but that does not mean that they are low in THC by any means. Cannabis is not “stronger” nowadays, it’s just more hybrid. The hashes that Morocco has been legendary for have been around for centuries and are comparable to the THC levels of modern hybrids. What makes a landrace or heirloom different is the blend of everything, terpenes and cannabinoids, which create both a unique flavor and euphoria.
